Ladies and gentlemen,
We cordially invite you to the 2nd International Scientific Conference InnovaTex 2025, "Beyond Textiles: Materials Engineering for the Modern Age," which will be held on January 22–24, 2025, in Łódź, Poland.
We encourage all of you who are interested in materials engineering, textiles, and the sustainable development of production cycles in these areas to participate in the conference. The conference organised by the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology with the participation of people involved in industrial activities undertaking joint research and projects is not an ordinary opportunity to make new acquaintances, exchange experiences, and expand cooperation.
We hope that these three days will be an unforgettable event for the conference participants. See you in Łódź!
ABOUT SUSTDESIGNTEX PROJECT
Project „Sustainable Industrial Design of Textile Structures for Composites” is funded by the European Union Grant Agreement no. 101079009 Call: HORIZON-WIDERA-2021-ACCESS-03/Twinning
The SUStainable Industrial DESIGN of TEXtile Structures for Composites project (SustDesignTex) is a Twinning project funded under the Horizon Europe Framework program of the European Union.
The main objective of the project is to establish a long-term strategic partnership between TUL (Faculty of Materials Technology and Textile Design), top-class leading counterparts at the EU level, and the Polish company in the area of industrial design of innovative textile structures for composites through research networking activities.
The Lodz University of Technology (Poland) is the coordinator of the project, and three top-class leading counterparts at the EU level: University of Borås (Sweden), Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University (Germany), University of Zaragoza (Spain), and Wademekum company (Poland) are the partners of the project.
The research activities of the SustDesignTex project are focused on designing innovative textile structures used in lightweight composite structures, like drones or aircraft components, and in other automotive industries. The researchers from the partner institutes collaborate on designing a novel textile structure and evaluating the textile-reinforced composites based on their area of specialization.
The SustDesignTex project was officially started on the 1st of October 2022 and will be realized until September 2025.
ABOUT AIdesignTEX PROJECT
Project „Innovative IT tools for a circular textile economy: driving sustainability and resource efficiency” is funded by the European Union Grant Agreement no. 101159060 Call: HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02
Project AIdesignTEX, titled "Innovative IT Tools for a Circular Textile Economy: Driving Sustainability and Resource Efficiency," aims to establish a long-term partnership between the Lodz University of Technology (TUL) and esteemed institutions from the European Union, including the University of Stavanger (UiS), Ghent University (GU), and the Catholic University of Avila (UCAV). This collaboration, facilitated through integrated network activities, seeks to enhance the research profile of TUL, particularly in textile design utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools, to promote recyclability and sustainability.
The project centers around a microproject focused on improving textile manufacturing processes. By leveraging AI and ML tools, we aim to design textiles that align with the principles of the circular economy.
Start date of the project: 01st October 2024
Project coordinator name: Prof. Katarzyna Grabowska
ABOUT FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The most important activities of The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering include educational, scientific and technological activities. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering operates at the intersection of several fields of materials engineering science and mechanical engineering, involving development and examination of modern composite materials for various industries, among them: aviation, energy (related to the energy storage), space as well as medical applications, using different production methods, such as, plasma techniques, chemical processes or additive technologies. Therefore, it has extensive experience and achievements in the production, modification and mechanical verification of metal, ceramic, polymer and composite materials. At the same time, it constantly develops its research capabilities in the field of surface engineering, characterization of bulk and nanostructured materials using various research methods. For years, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been among the leading units of the Lodz University of Technology with the largest number of patent applications and research projects, both domestic and international.
